Quality Assurance Technician

One of our clients based in Wigan are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join their growing Engineering department. Quality operates as a dedicated sub‑department within Engineering, working closely with Design, Mechanical and Workshop teams to ensure all products meet required regulatory, certification and quality standards.
This role is key to maintaining and managing product compliance, certifications and technical documentation across new and existing products. The successful Quality Assurance Technician will have a strong understanding of regulatory bodies, certification processes and technical documentation, ideally gained within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting into the Quality, Health & Safety Manager and working closely with the wider Engineering team.
  • Managing company certifications for new and existing products, including EU / CE documentation.
  • Producing and maintaining supporting documentation for SQS, ISO and other regulatory bodies.
  • Creating and updating technical files in readiness for certification and re‑certification deadlines.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical files and physical drawings to ensure compliance against specifications.
  • Liaising with external Notified Bodies, test houses and suppliers to ensure standards are met and certifications remain current.
  • Carrying out quality control inspections on incoming components and engineering parts, matching them to drawings and specifications.
  • Supporting configuration management and maintaining quality databases.
  • Acting as a point of contact for quality and compliance issues, escalating where appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a Quality, Compliance or Assurance role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of certification bodies, standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. ISO, SQS, EU certifications).
  • Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation and compliance files.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working cross‑functionally within an Engineering department.
  • Hands‑on, proactive approach with a strong sense of ownership.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Monday to Friday, office‑based role
  • 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, including time off over Christmas
