Location: Manchester (hybrid – 3 days a week in office)

The opportunity
Our client, a well-known international consumer brand, is building out an Azure-native integrations function as part of a major data and technology modernisation programme. This is a genuinely hands-on builder-manager role – roughly half your week in code, the other half on architecture, standards and team leadership.
What you'll be doing
  • Line-managing a small team of Integrations Engineers – hiring, performance, development.
  • Owning the integration architecture for major SaaS source systems connecting into data, finance and operational systems.
  • Personally designing and building the hardest, highest-risk integrations on the Azure stack (APIM, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid).
  • Owning the controlled wind-down of a legacy integration platform, migrating flows onto Azure.
  • Defining integration patterns and standards, reviewing pull requests, pairing with engineers.
  • Building the team's toolchain – CI/CD, observability.
  • Acting as senior technical escalation point for major incidents, including evenings/weekends when required.
What we're looking for
Essential
  • 8 years' integration/API engineering experience, with a recent track record of personally building production integrations on Azure.
  • Experience line-managing or technically leading a small engineering team.
  • Deep, current hands-on experience with APIM, Logic Apps, Function Apps (C# or Node.js), Service Bus and Event Grid, with committed Azure code in the last 12 months.
  • Strong API design skills (REST, JSON, OpenAPI) and event-driven patterns on Azure.
  • Strong understanding of API security on Azure (OAuth 2.0, JWT, Managed Identity, Key Vault, APIM policies).
  • Comfortable working flexibly during critical delivery windows or major incidents.
  • Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Desirable
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Developer Associate certification.
  • Experience migrating an integration estate off a legacy platform onto a cloud-native stack.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures at scale on Azure.
What's on offer

  • Private medical, pension and life assurance.
  • Hybrid working from Manchester.
Our client is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
