A leading engineering and industrial services organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major construction project based in Hull.

This is a key commercial role offering responsibility for cost control, change management, forecasting, subcontract administration and client-facing commercial activities on a high-profile project within a complex industrial environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in protecting commercial performance, maximising project recovery and supporting the delivery team throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role

Reporting into the commercial leadership team, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing commercial activities across a major construction project
  • Administering NEC4 Option B contract requirements
  • Preparing and managing payment applications and invoicing
  • Managing Compensation Events from identification through to agreement
  • Reviewing Early Warning notices and contractual correspondence
  • Undertaking measurement and remeasurement of works
  • Producing cost analysis, forecasts and commercial reporting
  • Supporting month-end reporting, WIP and forecasting activities
  • Managing subcontractor commercial processes and accounts
  • Maintaining commercial registers and project records
  • Conducting value analysis and improving project profitability
  • Liaising with clients regarding commercial matters, payment queries and change control
  • Supporting project leadership with commercial reporting and project reviews

Essential Experience

  • Proven Quantity Surveying experience within construction, engineering or industrial projects
  • Strong NEC3 or NEC4 contract knowledge
  • Experience managing Compensation Events and change control
  • Commercial management of subcontractors
  • Cost forecasting, reporting and financial control experience
  • Strong understanding of measurement and valuation principles
  • Client-facing commercial experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience

  • NEC4 Option B contract experience
  • Knowledge of NAECI agreements
  • Experience on major industrial or infrastructure projects
  • Standard Method of Measurement knowledge
  • Experience using SAP, Power BI or similar commercial reporting systems
  • Basic understanding of project planning software such as Primavera P6
