Lab Manager

An innovative technology company in the Manchester area is looking to add a Lab Manager to their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist manufacturer whose advanced materials testing equipment is used by leading research organisations, universities and industrial customers worldwide.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing the company's demonstration laboratory, running customer samples and delivering product demonstrations and training sessions. You'll become a key technical contact for customers, helping showcase the capabilities of the company's instrumentation whilst ensuring the demo lab operates efficiently.

This is a varied position that combines laboratory management, customer engagement and scientific testing work. Alongside overseeing the demo facility, you'll manage incoming customer enquiries through the CRM system and ensure leads are accurately recorded and passed to the sales team. During busier periods, you'll also support production activities and contribute to ongoing R&D projects within the laboratory.

This position would suit a scientifically-minded individual from a materials science, physics, laboratory or engineering environment who enjoys a hands-on role and is comfortable interacting with customers. Full product training will be provided, so previous experience with similar equipment is not essential.

Lab Manager Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a related scientific discipline
• Strong scientific and technical understanding
• Experience working within a laboratory, testing or technical environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable delivering demonstrations, training sessions and technical presentations
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities
• Experience using CRM systems would be advantageous
• Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK (approximately 20% maximum)

This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge testing technology in a varied position that combines technical, laboratory and customer-facing responsibilities. The company can offer a salary of £30,000-£40,000 depending on experience, alongside comprehensive product training and long-term career development opportunities.
