IT Infrastructure Integration Engineer – VMware / M365

Location: Wilmslow, hybrid (Tue–Thu onsite, Mon and Fri remote)
Contract: 12 months (Inside IR35)

Overview
Are you a hands-on infrastructure engineer who's happiest when you're close to the kit? This role puts you in charge of keeping a real on-prem estate running well, rather than just raising tickets about it.

We're working with a global business that needs an Infrastructure Engineer for its Wilmslow site. You'll look after the core infrastructure, virtualisation and storage, keep critical systems stable, and help with integration work as the business brings acquisitions into the group. The datacentre is on site and you'll be part of the on-call rotation, so you'll need to live within roughly an hour's drive of Wilmslow.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain core on-prem infrastructure, virtualisation and enterprise storage.
• Manage datacentre and physical infrastructure, including hardware, racking and server audits.
• Support M365 and Active Directory environments.
• Monitor the health of critical systems, spot trends and report back to IT management.
• Take part in the 24x7 on-call rotation and attend site in emergencies.
• Write scripts to automate deployments and routine engineering tasks.
• Support technical integration work for mergers and acquisitions.
• Create and maintain documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with M365 and Active Directory.
• VMware administration in a production environment.
• Datacentre and physical infrastructure management experience.
• Comfortable working an on-call rota for critical production systems.
• Based within roughly an hour's drive of Wilmslow.
• Clear communication and the ability to work across teams.

Desirable

• Nutanix experience.
• PowerShell scripting.
• Azure or wider cloud infrastructure experience.
• SAN/NAS, backups and DR.
• Exchange, PKI and certificate management.
• Experience with M&A integration or tenant migrations.
• Azure, VMware, MCSA/MCSE or ITIL certifications.
